January 17, 2004 Delaware, New Jersey WinTeam Titles; Blue Hens Take Seven Individual Titles Complete Division I Results | Complete Division II/III Results NEWARK, DE -- University of Delaware men's and women's indoor track and field athletes captured a total of 10 first place finishes to highlight the Delaware Indoor Track and Field Invitational #2 Saturday afternoon at the Delaware Field House. A total of 11 women's teams and nine men's teams competed in two different divisions. The Delaware men captured the men's Division I team title while the Delaware women placed second in the women's Division I race. The College of New Jersey won the men's Division II/III title, East Stroudsburg won the women's Division II/III title, and Norfolk State won the women's Division I title. Double winners in the meet were East Stroudsburg's Jayme Ferraro, who won both the women's 60 meter hurdles (9.98) and 500 meters (1:21.67) on the women's side; Norfolk State's Denisha Hudson, who captured both the women's Division I mile (5:29.07) and 1,000 meters (3:11.14); Norfolk State's Imani Moorman, who won the high jump (5-5) and triple jump (38-9 1/2); and Jeff Schwerdtman of The College of New Jersey, who won the men's Division II/III shot put (52-6 1/4) and weight throw (44-4). The Blue Hen men captured seven first place finishes in the Division I meet as Mike Yost won the weight throw (49-7), Charlie Williams captured the triple jump (39-3 1/4), the 4 x 800 meter relay team won in a time of 8:19.23; John Morgan captured the 800 meters (1:58.97), Patrick Riley won the mile run (4:27.47), Andrew Cox captured the 200 meters (23.33), and Roger Brown was the winner in the 60 meters (6.97). The Delaware women took three first place finishes as Casey Bennett won the pole vault competition for the second straight week with a jump of 11-5 3/4, Jenn Kutney captured the 3,000 meters (12:00.12), and the 4 x 800 meter relay team won in a time of 10:21.18. Delaware athletes who posted more than one top six finishes included Williams (first in men's triple jump, 39-3 1/4; third in 400 meters, 52.24), Chris Dixon (fourth in men's 200 meters, 24.40; fifth in 400 meters, 52.82), Yost (first in men's weight throw, 49-7; fifth in shot put, 44-2), Tyechia Smith (fourth in women's 200 meters, 25.96; sixth in 60 meters, 8.20), Riley (first in men's mile, 4:27.47; second in 1,000 meters, 2:43.04), and Mandy Stille (fourth in women's triple jump, 36-0; fifth in long jump,17-8 3/4).
