Coach Larry Pratt

A 1963
physical education graduate graduate of
the University of Delaware, Larry Pratt
enters his 31st season as an assistant
coach with the Blue Hens for the 2005-06
season. He will continue oversee all the
men's and women's throwing
events.
A native
of Glenrock, Wyoming, Pratt, 64 (born
7/1/41), captained the 1963 University of
Delaware outdoor team to its first ever
conference championship while setting
school records in the shot put and the
discus. He was the 1963 Middle Atlantic
Conference champion in the
discus.
He
returned to Delaware as cross country
coach and assistant coach for track and
field in 1965. He compiled a 41-17 mark in
his five years as cross country coach.
While an
assistant coach at Delaware, he has
coached 28 men's conference indoor and
outdoor champions and three women's
conference champions in the throwing
events. In addition, he has coached
numerous school record holders.
He earned
his degree in physical education from
Delaware in 1963, earned his master's
degree in education from Delaware in 1966,
and earned a degree in educational
administration from Nova University in
1976.
One of the
nation's top senior competitors in the
throwing events, Pratt has captured 207
first place finishes in 224 meets
throughout the country, holds the World
Master's (55-59 Age Group) discus record
with a toss of 178-9 in 1996 (at St.
George, UT), and has been the No. 1 ranked
discus thrower in the United States in
2003, 2004, and 2005 for men 60-69. He won the USA 2005 Senior National Title in Pittsburgh and the 2005 World Masters Games at Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
He won the
World Master's discus championship in 1982
at Ottawa, CA, won two U.S. Senior
National Discus titles in 1999 and 2001,
captured nine National Master's Discus
titles (1981 in Los Gatos, CA; 1982 in
Wichita, KS; 1995 in East Lansing, MI;
1997 in San Jose, CA; 1999 in Orlando, FL;
2000 in Eugene, OR; 2001 in Baton Rouge,
LA; 2003 in Eugene, OR; and 2004 in
Decatur, IL), including three straight
times in 1999-2001, and two National
Master's shot put championships (1982 in
Wichita, KS;1993 at Provo, UT).
