Kevin Fauntleroy begins his seventh season
with the University of Delaware men's and women's track and field coaching
staff and his sixth with the UD women's cross country squad during
the 2008-09 season. He will continue to work with the sprinters and hurdlers.
A native of Philadelphia, Fauntleroy was a
standout at Overbrook High School and moved on to an outstanding career
at North Carolina Central University where he earned NAIA All-District
honors as a sprinter in 1987. He earned his degree from NCCU in 1989.
He began his coaching career at Overbrook
High School where he served as assistant coach and led the school to three
Philadelphia Public League cross country championships. While there, the
Overbrook boy's 4 x 800m relay team was twice ranked No. 1 in the nation
in 1993 and 1994.
He became head cross country and track and
field coach at Academy of Notre Dame in Villanova, PA in 1999 and served
until 2001. He led the women's cross country team to the 2001 Inter-Ac
cross country league title and was named the area Coach of the Year.
Fauntleroy and his wife, Crystal, have two
daughters.
