NEWARK, DE -- WVUD 91.3, the award-winning University of Delaware student radio station, has announced that it will broadcast live nine Blue Hen men’s and women’s lacrosse games during the 2008 season either on radio or on internet station WVUD2.
In addition to the the nine regular season games, WVUD also plans to broadcast any Colonial Athletic Association Tournament or NCAA Tournament games in which the Blue Hen men’s or women’s teams compete in April and May.
The WVUD broadcast team will consist of veteran play-by-play announcer Bill Panuski and color commentator UD junior Andrew Gerbosi. Panuski has announced Blue Hen men’s and women’s lacrosse, football, men’s and women’s basketball, soccer, baseball, and club ice hockey action on WVUD for several years. Gerbosi, also a veteran of the WVUD staff, is a former high school lacrosse player.
WVUD will kickoff the 2008 spring season by broadcasting on WVUD2 the Delaware women’s lacrosse season opener Feb. 28 vs. Rutgers University at 3 p.m. at Rullo Stadium. Other women’s game broadcasts will be March 8 vs. St. Bonaventure (WVUD2) at 10 a.m., March 10 vs. UMBC at 5 p.m. (91.3 FM), Apr. 11 vs. James Madison (91.3 FM) at 7 p.m., and Apr. 13 vs. George Mason (91.3 FM) at 1 p.m.
The first men’s broadcast will take place March 15 vs. Stony Brook at 5 p.m. (WVUD2), followed by games March 22 vs. Villanova at 7 p.m. (91.3 FM), Apr. 12 at Hofstra at 1 p.m. (91.3 FM), and Apr. 19 vs. Robert Morris at 1 p.m (91.3 FM).
CAA men’s lacrosse semifinals will be held Apr. 30 with the championship game set for May 3. The CAA women's lacrosse tournament will be held at one site on May 2-4. NCAA Tournament action gets underway May 10.
