of Delaware to Host US Lacrosse Level 1
Coaching Clinic Jan. 30

-- The University of Delaware will host a
Level 1 Coaching Clinic sponsored by
United States Lacrosse this Sunday,
January 30 at the Delaware Field House.
The
six-hour clinic, which begins at 10 a.m.,
is being coordinated by University of
Delaware men's lacrosse head coach and US
Lacrosse Men's Training Education
chairperson Bob Shillinglaw and US
Lacrosse Women's Training Education
chairperson and former William & Mary
head coach Feffie Barnhill. Top coaches
from throughout the country will be on
hand to lecture on coaching and playing
skills.
The cost
is $25 per person with discounts for
Delaware coaches. Registration can be done
on-line at www.lacrosse.org or at 9 a.m.

The US
Lacrosse Coaches Education Program is
targeted at men and women coaches who have
limited or no experience coaching lacrosse
or experienced coaches who have an
interest in strengthening their coaching
foundation and knowledge base. Level 1
provides the tools needed to teach rules,
basic individual skills, and basic team
concepts to a group of beginning players,
regardless of age.
Those
attending will receive a comprehensive
Level 1 workbook, US Lacrosse goodie bag
including coaching accessories and other
items. Upon completion of the full clinic,
a certificate of completion will be give
to attendees. Coaches should wear sneakers
and athletic clothing and should bring a
stick if they own one.
Clinicians
from throughout the country will be on
hand to speak on topics such as Coaches'
Development (i.e., philosophy, safety,
communication, teaching techniques, and
practice planning), Player Development
(i.e., throwing, catching, shooting,
faceoffs, and goalie play), and Team
Development (i.e., transitional offense
and defense, extra man offense and
defense, draws, and free position shots).
