RICHMOND,
VA -- University of Delaware sophomore
midfielder Jordan Hall (right), who scored
a career-high five goals in Delaware's
13-6 win over St. John's Saturday night,
has been named the Colonial Athletic
Association Player of the Week for the
period ending May 1.
Hall, a
native of Surrey, British Columbia
(Fleetwood Park High School), earned the
award for the second time this season and
became the third Blue Hen player honored
by the CAA this season. Chris Collins was
named CAA Player of the Week earlier this
season while Vincent Giordano has been a
three-time winner of the CAA Rookie of the
Week.
CAA
regular season champion Delaware (10-4)
will be the No. 1 seed and take on No. 4
seed in the CAA semifinals Wednesday
night, May 4, at 7 p.m. at Rullo Stadium.
Should the Hens win, they would host
Towson or Villanova in the CAA title game
Saturday at 6 p.m. at Rullo. The CAA
champion will earn an automatic berth into
the NCAA Tournament.
Hall led
Delaware to the win in their season finale
against St. John's, helping then No. 19
Delaware to its third straight win and its
sixth victory in the last seven games. For
his effort, Hall was named the Milt
Roberts Day Game Most Valuable Player. He
scored three goals in the first half,
including two in the second period when
the Hens outscored St. John's 7-3 to take
a four-goal lead into halftime.
He later
gave the Hens their biggest lead with his
fifth goal with 13:21 remaining. He scored
on seven shots and also added two
groundballs and a caused turnover.
Hall
entered the week as the CAA's leading
scorer with 2.85 points per game and
raised his team-leading point total to 42
points on 26 goals and 16 assists.
