Delaware Men's Lacrosse Receives Votes in Weekly Top 20 Polls

NEWARK, DE - Both the University of Delaware men's and women's lacrosse teams received votes in their respective national Top 20 polls announced this week.

The Blue Hen women received 33 votes and were ranked No. 20 in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association poll and No. 16 in the Inside Lacrosse poll. The Blue Hen men received votes in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association and Inside Lacrosse polls but did not make the top 20.

Princeton was on top of the women's IWLCA poll with 15 first place votes and 300 total points followed by Northwestern, Georgetown, UNC, Duke, Virginia, Hofstra, Dartmouth, Maryland, and Penn State to round out the top 10. Three Colonial Athletic Association teams found themselves in the top 20 with Hofstra at number 7, No. 14 Towson, and No. 20 Delaware.

Princeton was also on top of the Inside Lacrosse women's poll this week and joining the Tigers in the top ten were Northwestern, Georgetown, North Carolina, Duke, Virginia, Dartmouth, Hofstra, Maryland, and Loyola. The Inside Lacrosse poll featured four CAA teams, highlighted by No. 8 Hofstra, No. 13 Towson, No. 16 Delaware, and No. 20 William & Mary.

Johns Hopkins earned the top spot in both of the men's polls, earned nine first place votes and 199 points in the USILA poll and 16 first place votes and 424 total points in the Inside Lacrosse media poll.

In the USILA poll, Virginia, Duke, Maryland, Georgetown, Syracuse, Navy, Princeton, Notre Dame, and Massachusetts rounded out the top 10 while in the Inside Lacrosse poll Virginia, Duke, Maryland, Georgetown, Navy, Syracuse, Army, Massachusetts, and Notre Dame rounded out the top 10.

Both of the Delaware teams will be back in action on Wednesday afternoon. The Blue Hen women start off the action by hosting Villanova at 3 p.m. while the Blue Hen men will host Georgetown at 7 p.m.
