Men Move Up to No. 16 in USILA/Inside
Lacrosse National Polls

NEWARK, DE
-- The University of Delaware men's and
women's lacrosse squads both remained in
the top 20 in their respective national
polls released on Monday.
The
Delaware men, who defeated St. John's 13-6
Saturday night in their regular season
finale, moved up three spots to No. 16 in
both the United States Intercollegiate
Lacrosse Association Top 20 poll and the
Inside Lacrosse Magazine Media Top 20
poll.
The Blue
Hen women, who fell to Hofstra in the
semifinals of the Colonial Athletic
Association Tournament, dropped one spot
to No. 17 in the Intercollegiate Women's
Lacrosse Coaches Association poll.
The
Delaware men (10-4), who have won three
straight and six of their last seven
games, will be the No. 1 seed and host No.
4 seed and 19th ranked Hofstra (8-7) in
the CAA semifinals Wednesday night at
Rullo Stadium. Should the Hens win, they
would host either No. 11 Towson or
Villanova in the CAA title game Saturday
at 6 p.m. at Rullo.
The
Delaware women (8-7) will close out the
2005 season this Saturday when they travel
to No. 10 Penn State.
Undefeated
Johns Hopkins remained No. 1 in both men's
polls while undefeated Northwestern
remained No. 1 in the women's
poll.
Behind
Johns Hopkins, Duke was No. 2 in the USILA
poll followed by Cornell, Navy, Virginia,
Maryland, Georgetown, Massachusetts,
Syracuse, and Army. In the Inside Lacrosse
poll, Duke was second followed by Navy,
Cornell, Maryland, Virginia,
Massachusetts, Georgetown, Syracuse, and
Towson.
Northwestern
was followed in the IWLCA poll by Duke,
Boston University, Dartmouth, Princeton,
Georgetown, Virginia, Maryland, North
Carolina, and Penn State.
