Men's Lacrosse Game vs. Yale Cancelled at
Halftime Due to Weather

OAKLAND,
NJ -- The scheduled University of Delaware
vs. Yale University non-league men's
lacrosse game was cancelled due to
inclement weather with the score tied at
5-5 at halftime Wednesday
night.
The game,
which was played at Indian Hills High
School, was tied at 5-5 at halftime before
rain, hail, and lightning caused the game
to be delayed. After waiting for nearly 90
minutes, the game was finally cancelled by
game officials at 9:30 p.m. The contest
will not be rescheduled.
Yale had
jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Delaware
(9-4) scored four straight to go up 4-2.
Yale followed with three consecutive goals
of its own to take a 5-4 lead before a
Blue Hen goal with 8:48 left in the first
half knotted the score at 5-5.
Dave
Powers had scored two goals for the Hens
while Vincent Giordano, Cam Howard, and
Joe Trentzsch had each scored one.
The 19th
ranked Blue Hens will close out the
regular season this Saturday, April 30,
when they host St. John's at 7 p.m. at
Rullo Stadium. The game will mark the
annual Delaware Lacrosse Foundation Day
and Milt Roberts Day festivities.
The Hens,
who have captured the Colonial Athletic
Association regular season title and the
No. 1 seed in the upcoming league
tournament, will host No. 4 seed Hofstra
in the CAA semifinals May 4 at 7 p.m. No.
2 Towson will host No. 3 Villanova in the
other semifinal. The championship game
will be played at the site of the highest
remaining seed May 7.
