Delaware Men’s Lacrosse Fans!

Here is your chance to help take part in a little history as the University of Delaware Men’s Lacrosse program celebrates 60 Years of Blue Hen Lacrosse during the 2008 season.

As part of the celebration, University of Delaware men’s lacrosse alumni and fans will have the opportunity to select the top Blue Hen players of all-time - The Blue Hen Dream Team.

The all-time first and second teams, which will each consist of three attackmen, three midfielders, three defenders/longstick midfielders, one goalkeeper, and one faceoff specialist, will be announced at the Delaware vs. Robert Morris game April 19 at Rullo Stadium as part of the 60th Anniversary Day Celebration.

From now until the voting deadline of April 18 (12 noon), fans may select the top players in UD history by looking over the list of candidates (All-Americans, selected all-conference honorees, and all-time statistical leaders) and their quick biographies below and selecting your top 6 attackmen, 6 midfielders, 6 defensemen, 2 goalies, and 2 faceoff specialists. Selections do not need to be in order. If your choice is not listed below, please select him as a write-in.

Anthony DiMarzo (1992-95)
Three-time honorable mention All-American in 1993, 1994, and 1995…led the nation in assists with 50 in 1993…two-time North Atlantic Conference Player of the Year…only two-time league MVP in UD history…1992 North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Year…one of only three players in UD history to earn all-conference honors all four years….led teams to 1992 and 1993 NAC titles…led 1993-95 teams in scoring…1995 Team MVP…set UD records for assists in a career (153), points in a career (251), and consecutive games scoring a point (47)...scored 98 career goals.

Brad Glowaki (1992-95)

Don Swan (1948-51)

Two-time honorable mention All-American in 1961 and 1962…first team All-Region in 1962…ranked among the nation’s top 10 scorers with 36 goals in 1962…led 1961 and 1962 teams to Middle Atlantic District titles…led 1961 team in scoring with 24 goals and ranked No. 2 with 36 in 1962.

Alex Wise (1966-68)
Two-time first team all-conference selection…first team all-region in 1966....led team in scoring all three seasons...had 21 goals and 28 assists for 49 points as a sophomore in 1966.

John Wunder (1990-93)
Led 1992 and 1993 teams to NAC titles…co-captain of 1993 squad…led team in goals in 1993 with 44….1993 Team MVP Award….150 career points (125-25) ranks No. 11 all-time at Delaware…125 goals ranks No. 5 all-time.

Rich Fitch (1977-80)

Tom Collins (1960-63)
Honorable mention USILA All-American in 1962….all-region selection in 1962…led team to 1961 and 1962 Middle Atlantic District titles…1963 co-captain…1963 Team MVP Award.

Brian Cooper (1994-97)
1994 North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Year….led 1994 team to NAC title…co-captain of 1997 team…only UD goalkeeper to lead the team in saves all four seasons…1997 team Gary Celeste Dedication Award….1997 Team MVP Award….set UD record for goalie minutes played in a career (3,112) and saves in a career (749)…No. 5 all-time at UD in career gaa (12.09).

Dave Darrell (1981-84)
First team all-conference selection in 1982…led 1981, 1982, and 1984 teams to East Coast Conference titles…led 1984 team to NCAA Tournament berth…No. 3 all-time at Delaware with 585 career saves….No. 3 all-time at UD with .605 save pct.

Steve DeLargy (1985-87)
Two-time first team all-conference selection in 1986 and 1987…led 1986 team to East Coast Conference title…No. 13 all-time at Delaware with 280 saves….674 save pct. in 1986 is No. 2 all-time at Delaware.

Ron Jedlicka (1997-99)
1999 second team all-conference selection…co-captain of 1998 and 1999 squads… led 1999 team to North Atlantic Conference title and NCAA quarterfinal berth….1998 Team MVP…No. 6 all-time at Delaware with 452 saves…No. 4 in career gaa (11.19).

Pat Morris (1951-53)
Honorable mention USILA All-American in 1952 and 1953…only two-time All-American goalkeeper in UD history…two-time second team All-Region…set UD record for goalie saves in a game (31).

Dave Mullen (1999-2002)
Two-time second team all-conference selection…. led 1999 team to North Atlantic Conference title and NCAA quarterfinal berth….led 2000 team to America East title…co-captain of 2002 team….2001 Team MVP…No. 2 all-time at Delaware with 589 career saves…No. 3 in career gaa (10.12).

Jim Pappas (1960-61)
Honorable mention USILA All-American in 1961…first team All-Region in 1961…Region Player of the Year in 1961…1961 Penn-Del League Player of the Year…1961 Team MVP Award….No. 14 all-time at Delaware with 255 career saves (all in 1961).

Jim Rourke (1982-85)
East Coast Conference Player of the Year in 1985…led 1982 team to East Coast Conference title…led 1984 to East Coast Conference title and NCAA Tournament berth….led 1985 team to ECC title…co-captain of 1985 team…set UD record for save pct. in a season (.688) and career (.646)…No. 10 all-time at Delaware with 369 saves.

Tom Scherr (2004-Present)
Three-year starter…led team to 2007 Colonial Athletic Association title and berth in NCAA Final Four… led 2005 team to NCAA Tournament appearance…led 2007 team to CAA title and NCAA Final Four appearance…co-captain of 2007 and 2008 teams…two-time winner of UD Team Sportsmanship Award…set UD record for goalie minutes in a season (1:021 in 2007)..entered 2008 season No. 9 all-time at Delaware with 371 saves…entered 2008 season No. 1 all-time at UD in gaa (8.12).

Chip Strickler (1976-78)
Three-time all-conference selection in 1976, 1977, and 1978…led 1976, 1977, and 1978 teams to East Coast Conference titles…co-captain of 1978 team…1978 team MVP Award…set UD record for goalie saves in a game (31) and season (269)…No. 5 all-time at Delaware with 538 career saves…No. 2 in career save pct.
