FOXBOROUGH, MA -- Curtis Dickson, who ranked among the nation’s leading scorers and led the University of Delaware men’s lacrosse team to the Colonial Athletic Association semifinals this spring, has been named to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association honorable mention All-American team.
Dickson (at right), a sophomore from Port Coquitlam, British Columbia (Riverside High School), was among the top offensive players in the country throughout the season and led the CAA in goals scored and total points. Prior to the NCAA Championships, Dickson ranked fifth in the NCAA in goal scoring with 2.88 goals per game and ninth in the NCAA in point scoring with 3.81 points per game.
Dickson, who earned CAA All-Rookie team honors a year ago and first team All-CAA honors this spring, led the Blue Hens with 62 points on 46 goals and 16 assists and ended the season with a goal-scoring streak of 25 straight games, the third longest in school history. His 46 goals was the most by a Blue Hen player since Randy Powers tallied 47 goals in 1985 and his 62 points was the most by a Delaware player since Jason Lavey scored 71 points in 2000.
Delaware has now had a player named to the USILA All-American team four straight years.
A finalist for the Tewaaraton Trophy as the top player in the nation, Dickson scored three or more goals eight times on the season with a career-high six vs. league champion Drexel. He also earned a spot on the CAA All-Tournament team after scoring twice in Delaware’s 9-7 CAA semifinal loss to eventual league champion Hofstra. Delaware finished with a 9-7 overall record for its fifth straight winning season.
Dickson was among three CAA players to earn a spot on the All-American team, joining honorable mention goalkeeper Bruce Bickford from Drexel and honorable mention midfielder Anthony Muscarella from Hofstra.
