BOSTON -- University of Delaware senior longstick midfielder Sean Kostkowski has been selected to play in the 68th annual United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) North-South Senior All-Star Game.
Kostkowski (at right), a 6-3, 210 lb. history major from Millersville, Md. (Severna Park High School), will play for the South team as they take on the North on Friday, May 22 at 4 p.m. at Harvard University Stadium.
The game will be part of a tripleheader that also includes the Division III North-South All-Star Game at 2 p.m. and the Boston Cannons vs. Denver Outlaws Major League Lacrosse game at 7:30 p.m.
The South team will be coached by Rutgers head coach Jim Stagnitta and assistant Jason Basso while the North team will be led by Bryant head coach Mike Pressler and Lehigh head coach Kevin Cassese.
Kostkowski, a three-year letterwinner for head coach Bob Shillinglaw, capped his career with the Blue Hens this past spring as a defender, longstick midfielder, and wing player on faceoffs. He played in 15 games this past season with 15 starts and ranked among the team leaders with 14 groundballs. He also had three shots on goal and eight caused turnovers.
He played in 37 career games for the Blue Hens and recorded one goal and one assist to go with 30 groundballs and 24 caused turnovers. He played a key role for the 2007 Delaware team that won the CAA title and advanced to the NCAA Final Four for the first time in school history.
Among Kostkowski’s teammates will be nine other Colonial Athletic Association rivals in attackman Chris MacDonald and defender Eddie DiDonato of Villanova, attackman Will McCutcheon, faceoff specialist Mitchell Rosensweig, and midfielder Randall Cooper of Towson, and midfielders Jon Van Houten and Kevin Dart of Drexel. Representing the CAA for the North team are midfielders Anthony Muscarella and Michael Colleluori of Hofstra.
