NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware’s Rullo Stadium will be a festive atmosphere this Saturday as the Blue Hens host Towson University in a key Colonial Athletic Association men’s lacrosse showdown beginning at 1 p.m.
The game, the final regular season home contest of the season for the Blue Hens, will mark annual Delaware Youth Lacrosse Foundation Day festivities as well as Milt Roberts Day.
Delaware will also honor its 2009 seniors prior to the game and at halftime will pay tribute to the 1984 and 1999 NCAA Tournament teams, both of which will be celebrating milestone reunions. In addition, former Delaware All-Americans and current Major Lacrosse League stars John Grant and Alex Smith will be signing autographs inside the stadium starting at 12 noon.
Tickets to the game are $5 for adults and $3 for children 17 and under and are available at the gate the day of the game beginning at 12 noon.
The Blue Hens (5-8, 2-2 CAA), who are riding a two-game winning streak, will be looking to solidify one of four spots in the upcoming CAA Tournament while Towson (5-7, 3-2 CAA) will be looking to snap a two-game losing streak that includes an 11-10 setback to league-leading Hofstra last Saturday.
Delaware is led by All-American and pre-season CAA Player of the Year Curtis Dickson, who leads the league in scoring with 39 points on 30 goals and nine assists and is working on a 37-game point-scoring streak. Martin Cahill (18 goals) adds to the offensive attack while Tommy Lee leads the CAA in faceoffs (.618), Pat Dowling paces the UD defense, and goalkeeper Noah Fossner (9.27 goals per game) is among the league’s top netminders.
Towson is led by Bill McCutcheon, who has tallied 29 points on 17 goals and 12 assists, faceoff specialist Mitchell Rosensweig (.585), and goalkeeper Rob Wheeler (9.43 gaa).
