University of Delaware Senior Curtis Dickson Tabbed Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week; Nike/Inside Lacrosse National Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. -- University of Delaware senior attackman Curtis Dickson, who has led the Blue Hens to a 2-0 start and has averaged 7.5 points per game in the two outings, is the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday.

Dickson (at right), a senior from Port Coquitlam, British Columbia (Riverside High School), tallied 15 total points in the two games as he led the Hens to wins o 15-5 over Saint Joseph’s back on Feb. 5 and to a 11-10 triple overtime triumph over then No. 12 UMBC this past Saturday. The Hens are now off to a 2-0 start for the sixth time in the last seven games.

For his efforts, Dickson was also named the Nike/Inside Lacrosse National NCAA Division I Player of the Week.

Delaware, which moved up to No. 13 in the USILA Top 20 poll this week, face a tough test Tuesday when the Hens take on No. 5 Johns Hopkins (1-0) at Homewood Field in Baltimore. The game will be televised live on ESPNU.

Dickson enjoyed one of the finest games by a Delaware player in over decade Saturday vs. UMBC as he tallied a career-high seven goals, including the game-winner with 1:07 left in the third sudden death overtime period. He also dished out an assist for a career-high eight assists. His seven goals was the most by a Delaware player since All-American John Grant scored eight goals against Rutgers in 2008.

In the first game of the season against Saint Joseph’s, Dickson scored four goals and dished out three assists as the Hens won on opening day for the eighth straight season.

For the season, he has scored 11 goals and dished out four assists for a CAA-leading 15 points. He has now scored a goal in 11 straight games and scored a point in 42 straight, the second longest mark in school history and just five shy of the school record of 47 by Anthony DiMarzo. His 111 career goals, the second highest career total among active NCAA Division I players, are just two shy of the CAA record of 113.

In addition to Dickson, also honored by the CAA on Monday was University of Massachusetts freshman attackman Will Manny as the CAA Rookie of the Week.
