RICHMOND, Va. -- University of Delaware senior Curtis Dickson (at right), who enjoyed one of the finest individual scoring efforts in over a decade for the Blue Hen men’s lacrosse team on Saturday, has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Dickson, a senior from Port Coquitlam, British Columbia (Riverside High School), earned the award for the second time in three weeks this season and for the sixth time in his stellar career at Delaware.

The No. 14 ranked Blue Hens (4-1) won their second straight game Saturday as Delaware used a big scoring spree in the fourth quarter to post a 16-9 win over Albany. The game was the first event played on the new FieldTurf surface and the first in Delaware Stadium since the 1998 season.

Dickson, who earlier this season scored seven goals in a triple overtime win over UMBC, upped his career-high to eight and didn't even need the extra time vs. Albany. His eight goals were the most by a Delaware player since USILA National Player of the Year John Grant notched eight against Rutgers in 1998 and his 10 points were the most by any UD player since Jason Lavey’s 10 against Hartford in 2000.

Already the CAA’s all-time leading goal scorer, Dickson increased his career goal total to 124 - second among active NCAA Division I players - and scored a point for the 45th straight game, just two shy of the Delaware record and the second longest active streak in the country. He moved into the Top 10 all-time for points at Delaware with 167 and recorded his 19th career-hat trick, including his fourth this year.

Twice in Saturday’s game he scored back-to-back goals for the Hens in quick succession, scoring twice in a span of eight seconds midway through the third quarter - just one second shy of the UD record for consecutive goals by the same player - and 11 seconds apart late in the second period.

Delaware will return to action this Saturday when the Blue Hens host No. 15 Stony Brook at 1 p.m. at Delaware Stadium. The game can be seen live via webstream on the UD athletics homepage at www.bluehens.
