HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Kent High School for one year before transferring to East High School in Denver, CO...competed in football and lacrosse at East...led East lacrosse teams to two-year record of 28-2...two-time all-conference selection who earned All-State honors as a senior...played tight end and linebacker in football...earned All-City honors as a senior and was team's defensive Most Valuable Player twice...AT DELAWARE: Third-year team member and two-year letterwinner...second-year starter and one of the team's toughest and most physical players...leads by example...2003: Enjoyed a solid season as a first-year starter on defense...started all 15 games on defense and recorded 30 groundballs, tops among Blue Hen defensemen...had career-high seven groundballs vs. Stony Brook...led team with 15 penalties for 14 minutes...scored first career goal and only tally by a UD defender when he scored in the season opener vs. Saint Joseph's...2002: Played in a reserve role in first season at Delaware...appeared in four games with two starts...recorded one groundball...PERSONAL: Ian Andrew Wright...born May 18, 1983 in Germany...son of Dan and Patti Wright...father is a doctor and competed in track and field while attending Franklin & Marshall College in Pennsylvania...psychology major...has worked in a daycare during the summer...has travelled to Africa and worked on a ranch in Montana during previous summers.
