High School: Played lacrosse and ice hockey at nearby St. Mark's High School...four-year varsity standout in lacrosse for coach Curt Sawyer...team advanced to the state title game in 2003...three-time All-State selection, earning first team honors in 2007 and second team laurels in 2005 and 2006...registererd 70 goals and 24 assists as a junior...played left wing in ice hockey...team finished second in the state in 2005-06...involved in student government.
At Delaware: Second-year member of the squad as an attackman...sat out 2008 season and has four years of eligibility starting in 2009.
2008 Season: Sat out 2008 season and retained his freshman eligibility.
Personal: Derek Scott Sherman...son of Mike and Marilyn Sherman...sport management major at Delaware...has an older brother and older sister...brother, Chris, played college lacrosse at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2002-06...father works at General Motors and mother is a nurse...works as an electrician during the summer...hobbies include skimboarding, wakeboarding, and fishing.
