Win Throwing Events for Blue Hen
Men
EASTON, PA -- The University of
Delaware enjoyed a solid day in the throwing events for both
the men's and women's teams at the Lafayette College Outdoor
Track and Field Invitational Saturday at Fisher
Field.
Delaware's Sam Yarrington (Quaker
Valley/Sewickley, PA) won the hammer throw for the third
straight meet and Eric Sands (Tunkhannock, Pa. HS)
won the discus to highlight the Blue Hen men while Caltha
Seymour (A.I. duPont HS) was second in the hammer throw to
pace the Blue Hen women's team.
Yarrington threw the hammer 180-4 to win
that event and also placed eighth in the discus with a toss
of 133-10. Sands won the discus with a throw of 153-2 and
was also sixth in the shot put with a toss of 45-11
3/4.
Also for the Delaware men, Joe
Quigley (Salesianum HS) was second in the 800 meters
(1:55.06) and Paul Visentin was third in the 3,000
meters (8:42.16). Delaware's 4 x 800 meter relay team also
placed third in a time of 8:00.02.
The Hens also had four fourth place
finishes as the 4 x 100 meter relay team ran to a time of
42.72, Mark Coyle (East/West Chester) ran 4:04.77 in
the 1,500 meters, John Marino (Iona Prep/Yonkers, NY)
had a clocking of 16.16 in the 110 meter hurdles, Mike
Goodhart (Warwick/Lititz, PA) threw the hammer 153-2,
and Ben Thuma (Northern York/Harrisburg, PA) threw
the discus 139-3. Thuma also placed sixth in the hammer
throw with a toss of 144-7.
Seymour (A.I. duPont HS) was second in
the hammer with a throw of 164-11 to lead the Hens while
Melissa Calvanico (Tottenville/Staten Island, NY) was
fourth in the in the shot put (38-6) and the 4 x 100 meter
relay was third with a time of 50.06.
Also for the Hens, Jennie Chiller
(Sharon, Mass. HS) was fifth in the hammer (130-6) and
Jen Lublanecki (West Morris Central/Long Valley, NJ)
was fifth in both the 100 meters (12.86) and 200 meters
(26.47).
