University of Delaware Track and Field Teams to Compete at ECAC/IC4A Championships This Weekend at Princeton

PRINCETON, NJ -- A total of 12 University of Delaware men’s and women’s outdoor track and field athletes will be in action this week as the Blue Hens take part in the annual ECAC and IC4A Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Princeton University’s Weaver Track and Field Stadium.

The 12 Blue Hens will be trying to win titles while also attempting to qualify for the NCAA East Regionals to be held May 25-26 at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL.

The three-day meet, which includes NCAA Division I teams from Maine to North Carolina, begins Friday and concludes on Sunday. George Mason is the defending IC4A men’s team champion while Pittsburgh is the defending ECAC women’s team champions. Meet results will be available at Delaware’s website at www.udel.edu/sportsinfo or at www.ecac.com.

Delaware will begin action Friday with freshman Chase Renoll (at right) competing in the discus at 5:30 p.m. and senior Kyle Schmid taking part in the 5,000 meters at 7 p.m.

On Sunday, the women’s 4 x 100 meter relay team of Daniella Price, Liz Harvin, Asha Quant, and Brittany Wright will compete in the trials at 2:45 p.m., Kelli McDonald will compete in the women’s pole vault and Quant in the long jump at 3 p.m., Rachel Young and Amanda Marshall are entered in the women’s discus at 4 p.m., and the women’s 4 x 400 meter relay team of Harvin, Cristine Marquez, Kellyn Wright, and Quant will compete in trials at 6 p.m.

On Sunday, Jared Wasser is entered in the men’s shot put at 10:30 a.m., Marquez will compete in the women’s 400 meters at 1 p.m., and Young will take part in the women’s shot put at 1 p.m. The finals of the 4 x 100 meter relay (12 noon) and 4 x 400 meter relay (3:15 p.m.) will also be held.

Wasser placed seventh in the shot put last year to earn All-East honors while Young was 16th in the shot put. The 4 x 100 meter relay team, which included Brittany Wright and Quant, finished in 15th place a year ago Princeton.
