NEWARK, DE -- Steve Butcher had a
goal and an assist as University of Buffalo shutout
University of Delaware, 3-0, Saturday in men's soccer
action.
The Bulls (6-3-1) got on the board at
9:38 when Chris Vinci scored off of a semi-breakaway.
Gaining the ball at midfield, Butcher broke up the middle of
the field and found Vinci for the score.
The score remained that way until early
in the second half when Butcher scored 9:29 after
intermission to give the Bulls a 2-0 lead.
Tim Songer added a goal on a penalty shot
with 7:30 remaining in the game for the final
margin.
Delaware's Nick Konawalik had four saves
for the Blue Hens, which had a three-game unbeaten streak
snapped. Buffalo's Justin Denning and Brian Wozniak combined
on the shutout, each recording three saves.
Delaware (2-5-1) embarks on a three-game
road trip beginning next Saturday with its America East
opener at Towson.
