HARRISONBURG, VA -- Chris Villamil
came off of the bench to record a hat trick and two assists
and Jose Maldonado scored twice as George Mason handed
Delaware a 7-1 defeat Sunday at the JMU/Sheraton Four Points
Hotel Tournament.
Maldonado opened the scoring with an
unassisted goal at 17:10. He followed that up by giving the
Patriots a 2-0 lead with his second goal of the game off of
a feed from Luis-Carlos Sossa.
Villamil then added his hat trick and
Jesus Baptista tallied once, which Villamil assisted on, to
give George Mason (1-2) a 6-0 lead at halftime.
Delaware (0-3) got on the board when
David Hudson scored his first goal of the season at
15:24 of the second half off of a pass by Brian
Shepanski. The assist gave Shepanski his third point in
as many games this year.
As time expired, however, the Patriots'
Caio Gouveia scored off of a Villamil pass for the final
margin.
Delaware will go back on the road
Wednesday to take on Maryland- Baltimore County at 4
p.m.
