NEWARK, DE -- First-half goals by Mike
Honeysett and BrianShepanski 3:07 apart were the
difference as Delaware shutout Maine,2-0, in men's soccer
action at Delaware Mini-Stadium Friday afternoon.
Honeysett opened the scoring for Delaware
(4-8-1, 2-2 America East) at 41:20. The redshirt freshman
from Mechanicsburg, PA scored his second goal of the season
off of a rebound from his own shot.
Shepanski, a sophomore Glen Mills, PA,
followed at 44:27 with his second goal of the season to give
Delaware some insurance. Honeysett's initial shot hit off of
the crossbar and deflected right to Shepanski, who knocked
the ball home.
Nick Konawalik had four saves in
net for Delaware to record his second shutout of the season.
Aaron Weymouth had eight saves for Maine.
Delaware held a 16-6 advantage in shots,
including 12-1 in the first half.
The Blue Hens will host New Hampshire
Sunday at 1 p.m. at Delaware Mini-Stadium.
