Gillespie Join Delaware Men's Soccer

-- University of Delaware men's soccer
head coach Marc Samonisky has announced
the addition of Greg Forte and Brian
Gillespie to the Blue Hen staff as
assistant coaches.
Forte and
Gillespie will join Samonisky and Blue Hen
goalkeeper coach Keith Duncan on the
staff. They replace Greg Esposito and
Keith O'Connor who moved on to other
coaching positions.
A native
of Fenwick Island, DE, Forte was a four
year letterwinner and two-time all-state
selection for Indian River High School.
He went on to play at Mount St. Mary's
College in Emmitsburg, MD, starting all
four years for the Mountaineers. He ranks
in the top 10 in career assists and games
played at Mount St. Mary's. He earned his
bachelor's degree in rhetoric and
communications while minoring in
English.
After
graduation, Forte returned to his high
school as an assistant coach. After two
successful seasons at Indian River during
which the Indians earned two state
tournament berths, Forte took over as the
Director of Coaching for the MASC Makos of
Ocean City, MD. He also enjoyed a brief
stint with the South Jersey Barons of the
Pro Development League in the summer of
2003.
Gillespie
attended Division III Shepherd College
where he started 10 matches, scoring three
goals and adding five assists in his
freshman season. He transferred to
Delaware to concentrate on school and
earned a degree in biochemistry in January
2002.
He began
coaching at both the youth and high school
levels while attending Delaware. He spent
two years as an assistant coach at Newark
High School and six years as a head coach
for both Delaware Saengerbund and the
Kirkwood Soccer Club. He currently holds a
USSF "D" coaching license. He is currently
employed as an assistant chemist at Dade
Behring.
