NEWARK, DE -- Andrew Dorman scored
off a direct kick from 20 yards out with just 7:04 remaining
to score the game-winning goal and give the Boston
University men's soccer team a 3-1 win over the University
of Delaware at Delaware Field Friday afternoon.
Bjorn Jacobson stole the ball from
Delaware defender Jeremy Doucette and scored past
Blue Hen goalkeeper Alex McGroarty with just 37
seconds left to make the final score 3-1.
After a scoreless first half, the
Terriers (8-6-2, 4-3-1 America East) struck first on a goal
by Kirk Miller with 38 minutes remaining. But Delaware
(3-14, 1-7) would answer, when Todd Everett
scored off a feed from Mat Dunbar just five minutes
later to tie the match.
The Blue Hens would carry much of the
play for the next 25 minutes, but could not take the lead.
Mike Honeysett led the Blue Hens' attack with three
shots.
Delaware played the last 35 minutes with
10 players after defender Kyle Shilcock-Elliott was
given a red card.
McGroarty made six saves in goal for
Delaware, while Terriers goalkeeper Matthew Smith collected
four saves to pick up the victory.
Delaware will finish its 2000 season
Sunday when the Blue Hens host Northeastern at Delaware
Field at 1 p.m.
