TEANECK, NJ -- Despite outshooting
the host team 11-7, the University of Delaware men's soccer
team dropped its season opener at Fairleigh Dickinson, 3-1,
Friday afternoon.
The Blue Hens' lone goal came from
sophomore Seth Duhl, the second of his career. He
scored on a header off of Mat Dunbar's crossing pass
with just 6:05 left.
The Knights (1-0) started the scoring
just 4:12 into the game when Johnny David scored unassisted
from 25 yards out.
FDU made it 2-0 midway through the first
half when Aaron Paye scored on a header off of a cross from
Dirceu Hurtado.
Hurtado gave the Knights a 3-0 lead just
2:42 into the second half when he scored off a feed from
Danny Lazano, who picked up the second assist on Paye's
goal.
Delaware will return to action Wednesday
at Delaware Field when it hosts UMBC at 3:30 p.m.
