TEANECK, NJ -- Despite outshooting the host team 11-7, the University of Delaware men's soccer team dropped its season opener at Fairleigh Dickinson, 3-1, Friday afternoon.

The Knights (1-0) started the scoring just 4:12 into the game when Johnny David scored unassisted from 25 yards out.

FDU made it 2-0 midway through the first half when Aaron Paye scored on a header off of a cross from Dirceu Hurtado.

Hurtado gave the Knights a 3-0 lead just 2:42 into the second half when he scored off a feed from Danny Lazano, who picked up the second assist on Paye's goal.
