game-winner

ORONO, ME -- Freshman Stephen
Mangat (Newark, DE/St. Mark's) scored his first
collegiate goal from the top of the box with just 7:18
remaining in the match to give the University of Delaware
men's soccer team a 2-1 comeback win in Orono Friday
afternoon.
Delaware (3-12, 1-5 America East)
trailed, 1-0, at halftime, but Brian Shepanski scored
on a volley off a corner kick from Mat Dunbar with
27:42 left in the match to tie the contest. The goal was the
second of the season for Shepanski and the team-leading
fourth assist for Dunbar.
Russell Hutchison scored off an assist
from Rob Dow just 7:35 into the match to give the Black
Bears a 1-0 lead.
Delaware goalkeeper Alex McGroarty
and the Blue Hen defense would stiffen and not allow another
goal. McGroarty made four saves and Kyle
Shilcock-Elliott made a defensive save to set the stage
for Mangat's heroics.
Mat Cosgriff made four saves for Maine
(2-8-2, 0-5-1).
Delaware recorded a season-high 19 shots,
including four each from Todd Everett, Shepanski, and
Shilcock-Elliott.
Delaware will play its last road match of
the season Sunday when the Hens play at New Hampshire at 2
p.m.
