Stephen Mangat scored the game-winner

ORONO, ME -- Freshman Stephen Mangat (Newark, DE/St. Mark's) scored his first collegiate goal from the top of the box with just 7:18 remaining in the match to give the University of Delaware men's soccer team a 2-1 comeback win in Orono Friday afternoon.

Delaware (3-12, 1-5 America East) trailed, 1-0, at halftime, but Brian Shepanski scored on a volley off a corner kick from Mat Dunbar with 27:42 left in the match to tie the contest. The goal was the second of the season for Shepanski and the team-leading fourth assist for Dunbar.

Russell Hutchison scored off an assist from Rob Dow just 7:35 into the match to give the Black Bears a 1-0 lead.

Delaware goalkeeper Alex McGroarty and the Blue Hen defense would stiffen and not allow another goal. McGroarty made four saves and Kyle Shilcock-Elliott made a defensive save to set the stage for Mangat's heroics.

Mat Cosgriff made four saves for Maine (2-8-2, 0-5-1).

Delaware recorded a season-high 19 shots, including four each from Todd Everett, Shepanski, and Shilcock-Elliott.

Delaware will play its last road match of the season Sunday when the Hens play at New Hampshire at 2 p.m.
