NEWARK, DE-- The University of
Delaware's men's soccer team lost to Fairleigh Dickinson
University 2-0 Monday afternoon at Delaware Mini-Stadium.
Despite outshooting the Knight's 15-10, the Blue Hens could
not manage to get on the scoreboard in their home opener.
Delaware falls to 1-3 on the season.
Todays game was orignally scheduled for
Sept. 16th.
The Knights' first goal came six minutes
into the match as a Danny Lazano shot hit the back of the
net off an Aaron Payne pass from 15 yards out. Johnny David
added the other FDU goal on penalty kick 75 minutes into the
contest. The Knights' defense did not allow the Hens many
clean shots and goalie Vytantas Lenkutis was there to stop
those that got through, finishing with six saves. Fairleigh
Dickinson improves its record to 3-2.
Adam Flanigan had four shots and
Kyle Haynes recorded a pair of saves for the Blue
Hens in the losing effort.
The University of Delaware men's soccer
team returns to action Wednesday night vs. Rider University
at Delaware Mini-Stadium. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m.
