Hens loss Ends
Playoff Hopes
BOSTON, MA-- The University of
Delaware men's soccer team lost to Northeastern, 1-0, Sunday
afternoon. The loss eliminated the Blue Hens from America
East Tournament contention.
Northeastern's Chris Beston headed in a
corner kick in the 25th minute of the first half for the
only score of the contest. Allan Lewis stopped five UD shots
in goal and Ryan McKibbin made a defensive save in the
Huskies' shutout.
The goaltending of Kyle Haynes
kept the game close for the Blue Hens, recording five saves.
Northeastern (11-7, 7-4) will continue on
to play in the America East Tournament, entering as the
fourth seed and hosting No. 5 Hofstra on Wednesday at 3
p.m.
A victory would have put Delaware in the
America East Tournament for the first time in since 1996.
Delaware finishes its season 7-11-1 overall, 4-6-1 in
conference play. The seven wins were its most since
1998.
