NEWARK,DE -- Randy Tolson scored
just five minutes into the game and Machel Millwood
converted a penalty kick in the second half to pace Towson
University to a 2-0 Colonial Athletic Association men's
soccer victory over the University of Delaware Friday
afternoon at the Delaware Mini-Stadium.
Towson, which won its second straight
game and improved to 4-1-1 in its last six outings, improved
to 8-4-2 (3-1-1 CAA) while the Blue Hens lost for the fourth
time in their last five games to fall to 2-9-3, 0-4-1
CAA.
The Tigers got all the offense they would
need just five minutes and 17 seconds into the contest when
Tolson took a crossing pass from Kevin Corradini and scored
past Delaware goalkeeper Kyle Haynes (three saves) in
the top right corner.
Towson made it 2-0 10 minutes into the
second half when Millwood, the leading scorer in the CAA,
scored his ninth goal of the season off a penalty shot,
beating Haynes to the bottom right of the net. Millwood
received the penalty shot after being dragged down in the
box.
Towson outshot the Blue Hens 10-8 but
Delaware had a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks. Towson's Andy
Hicks posted three saves.
Josh Brugger, Mike Honeysett, and Ryan
Edwards each had two shots on goal to pace the Blue
Hens.
Delaware will return to action Nov. 1 at
James Madison while the Tigers next play at George Mason
