NEWARK, DE -- Ryan Edwards
scored his team-leading third goal of the season to give
Delaware a 1-1 tie with William & Mary in a Colonial
Athletic Association men's soccer game Saturday night at
Delaware Mini-Stadium.
William & Mary opened the scoring in
the 12th minute when Doug Henry touched a ball over
onrushing Blue Hen goalkeeper Kyle Haynes from
15-yards out to give the Tribe a 1-0 lead at 11:05. Carlos
Garcia and Ralph Bean picked up assists on Henry's first
goal of the season.
Edwards got the equalizer when he stole
the ball from the WillIam & Mary (6-5-1, 2-0-1 CAA)
defense at midfield. He proceeded to race towards the net
and slip a shot into the lower right-corner of the net at
66:47.
Trevor Upton made two saves in net for
the Tribe, while Haynes stopped four shots in a losing
effort for Delaware.
William & Mary outshot the Blue Hens
13-3, and held a 8-5 advantage in corner kicks.
Delaware (2-8-3, 0-3-1 CAA) returns to
action Friday night when it hosts conference rival Towson.
