Blue Hens Win First CAA Game Since Entering the Conference

NEWARK, DE - The University of Delaware men's soccer team scored two second half goals en route to snapping a four-game losing streak and winning its first Colonial Athletic Association game since entering the conference in 2002 with a 2-0 victory over Drexel Sunday afternoon at Delaware Mini-Stadium.

Freshman Kyle Peters

Despite being outshot 12-3 in the first half, Delaware rallied to score two second half goals and outshot Drexel 11-4 in second half to improve to 4-10-5 (1-6-2 CAA) as it garnered a program-first CAA victory. The Dragons fell to 6-12-1 (1-7 CAA) with the loss.

Junior David Egosi (Dix Hills, NY/Commack) notched his fourth goal of the season as he knocked in the rebound off freshman Justin Romano's (Bear, DE/Saliesianum) shot for the first score of the game in the 63rd minute of action.

Freshman Kyle Peters (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Holy Cross) iced the Blue Hen victory when junior Adam Flanigan's (Newark, DE/St. Mark's) shot deflected off Drexel goalkeeper Nick Macri's hands and was tapped in by Peters at 83:03. Peters' goal was his first collegiate points as a Blue Hen.

Delaware's goalkeeper Kyle Haynes (St. Michael's, MD/St. Michael's) made two saves to preserve his 12th career shutout victory.

Delaware finalizes its 2003 season by hosting the Hoyas of Georgetown on Tuesday, November 4, at 7 p.m.

The Hens will honor their three seniors, Stephen Mangat (Newark, DE/St. Mark's), Nate Danforth (McLean, VA/Langley) and Morgan Funsten (King of Prussia, PA/Upper Merion).
