NEWARK, DE-- Freshman defender
Matt Haney scored with under a minute left in
regulation and junior goalkeeper Kyle Haynes made six
saves as the University of Delaware men's soccer team played
to a 1-1 tie with James Madison in Colonial Athletic
Association men's soccer action Sunday afternoon at Delaware
Mini-Stadium.
Behind 1-0 on a goal by JMU's Kurt
Morsink at 49:15 from 15 yards out, Delaware controlled the
final minutes of play and was rewarded when a kick by Haynes
from midfield sailed into the goalkeeper's box and was
headed home by Haney. The goal was Haney's third of the
season, while the assist was the first of Haynes'
career.
Delaware held a 14-12 shot advantage,
many of which came late in the second half and in overtime,
as the Dukes controlled play throughout the first half and
into the second stanza. In addition, Delaware held a 7-4
corner kick advantage, while James Madison (6-4-2, 1-1-2
CAA) held a 17-10 advantage in fouls.
The Blue Hens (3-6-4, 0-2-2) return to
action this Wednesday when they travel to Annapolis, MD to
take on Navy. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
