ANNAPOLIS, MD-- The
University of Delaware men's soccer team ended knotted at
0-0 to Navy after two extra periods of action.
Delaware moved to 3-6-5 with its third
double overtime tie in as many games. The Blue Hens have
amassed five draws this year setting a new record for ties
in a season by surpassing the four ties notched in both the
1962 and 2002 seasons.
The three consecutive ties also is a
first in Delaware men's soccer history.
Junior goalkeeper and co-captain Kyle
Haynes (St. Michael's, MD/St. Michael's) registered his
fourth shutout of the season and the 11th of his career
making seven saves in the tie.
Navy (4-6-1) outshot the Hens 14-13 while
Delaware outnumbered the Midshipmen in corner kicks
8-2.
Delaware returns to action on Sunday,
October 19 as it returns to conference play at Towson at 1
p.m.
