Blue Hens Fall to
#2 Old Dominion, Picking Up Third Straight Conference
Loss
NORFOLK, VA --Despite freshman
defender Hayes Glanden's (Dover, DE/Dover) first
career goal, the University of Delaware men's soccer squad
suffered its third straight conference loss, 3-1, against
No. 2 ranked Old Dominion on Saturday night.

Delaware fell to 3-9-5 overall, 0-5-2 in
the CAA while Old Dominion continued its undefeated season
and saw its record improve to 12-0-0 overall and 6-0 in
conference play.
Old Dominion jumped on the board first in
the first two minutes of the first half as Michael Goncalves
scored off an assist from Josh Hill.
The Blue Hens answered back less than
eight minutes later when Glanden notched his first
collegiate points at 9:59 to tie the score at
1-1.
The game remained tied for the next two
minutes until the Monarch's Attila Vendegh scored two
answered goals within three minutes of each other to send
Old Dominion to the 3-1 victory.
All of the game's goal scoring occurred
within the first 15:06 of the game. Old Dominion was paced
by Vendegh's two goals and by Hill, who tallied two
assists.
Junior goalkeeper Kyle Haynes (St.
Michael's, MD/St. Michael's) made six saves for the Blue
Hens, who were outshot 21-5 by the Monarchs.
Delaware returns to the action on Friday,
October 31 for a conference contest against Hofstra at 7
p.m.
