Hens Suffer Second
Straight Conference Loss
NEWARK, DE -- William & Mary
scored three unanswered second half goals on the road to a
4-1 final over the University of Delaware men's soccer team
and en route to Tribe head coach Al Albert's 400th career
victory.
Albert picked up his 400th win as William
& Mary scored four second half goals to the Blue Hens'
one at Delaware-Mini Stadium. Albert is the seventh coach in
Division I soccer to reach the milestone.
William & Mary improved to 8-4-2,
3-2-0 in the CAA with the win while the Hens fell to 3-8-5,
0-4-2 in the CAA on the season.
The Tribe got on the board first, opening
the scoring in the second half when Clayton Voss found the
back of the net at 67:25.
Delaware's Adam Flanigan (Newark,
DE/St. Mark's) retaliated for the Blue Hens' only goal of
the game less than five minutes when he registered his
second goal of the season off an assist from sophomore
Justin Arpan (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown) at 72:15.
The game remained tied for a little over
45 seconds as the Tribe would begin a nine minute rally that
would result in three unanswered scores.
Patrick Scherder notched a goal at 72:47
and Jarrett Thomas notched two goals within three minutes of
each other to pull the Tribe to the 4-1 final.
Delaware's goalkeeper Kyle Haynes
(St. Michaels, MD/St. Michaels) made five saves in the
loss.
William & Mary outshot Delaware
15-2.
Delaware returns to the action tomorrow,
Saturday, October 25, as it faces #4 Old Dominion in
Norfolk, VA at 7 p.m.
