Falls to Drexel, 2-1
PHILADELPHIA
(October 24, 2004)-- Two second half goals
propelled Drexel University to a 2-1 win
over the University of Delaware men's
soccer team in Colonial Athletic
Association action Sunday
afternoon.
Delaware
(4-10-1, 1-6 CAA) got the scoring started
when senior Richard Zeller (Narberth, PA/
Haverford-at right) scored his third goal
of the year. Zeller's goal came with just
under eight minutes to go until the half
and came off a ball that bounced free from
10 yards out into the right corner of the
net.
Drexel
(4-10, 1-5 CAA) outshot the Blue Hens 6-4
in the first half, including a penalty
shot that goalie Kyle Haynes (St.
Michael's, MD/ St. Michael's) stopped to
keep his team in the game. Zeller scored
his goal just minutes later.
The
Dragons struck for the equalizer just 13
minutes into the second half as Mike Hines
took a pass from Alex Niles and beat the
Blue Hen defender.
Hines
struck for the game winner with just under
five minutes to go, this time taking a
pass from Dominick Balsamo.
Haynes
made four saves in game for the Blue Hens
while the Dragons' Jim Greco also made
four saves. Drexel outshot Delaware 11-10
for the game.
The Blue
Hens return to action on Friday evening
when they host Virginia Commonwealth, at
Delaware Mini-Stadium at 7 p.m.
