Delaware's
Tadjalli Named CAA Rookie of the
Week
RICHMOND,VA
(October 25, 2004) --The University of
Delaware freshman forward Sobhan Tadjalli
(Hockessin, DE/ A.I. duPont-at right) was
named the Colonial Athletic Association
Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week on Monday.
The honor was the second of the year for
Tadjalli, who was also named the Rookie of
the Week on September 20.
The CAA
Player of the Week was Kevon Harris of Old
Dominion.
Delaware
went 1-1 last week, posting a 2-1 win at
Hofstra Friday for its first CAA victory
of the year before falling to Drexel, 2-1
on Sunday. With the Blue Hens up 1-0
against Hofstra, Tadjalli converted a
tough chip shot in the 62nd minute of the
match to give Delaware a 2-0 lead.
Tadjalli's goal would prove to be crucial
as the Pride tallied a late goal to cut
the UD advantage to 2-1.
Tadjalli's
goal was his team-leading 11th of the
season, and broke the school record for
goals in a season by a freshman. The
previous mark of 10 had been set in 1975
by John McCloskey. Tadjalli currently
ranks second in the CAA with 11 goals and
24 points.
The Blue
Hens (4-10-1, 1-6 CAA) will return to
action on Friday, October 29 when they
host Virginia Commonwealth at 7
p.m.
