Delaware Falls to Towson 1-0 in Men's Soccer

NEWARK, DE (October 9, 2004)-- Towson's J.C. Cole scored just 24 minutes into the game and the Tigers (6-4-1, 1-2 CAA) held on for the 1-0 win over the University of Delaware men's soccer team on Saturday night at Delaware Mini-Stadium. The loss was the third straight for the Blue Hens (3-7, 0-3 CAA) all to Colonial Athletic Association opponents.

The Blue Hens had their chances in this one as junior Justin Arpan (Downingtown, PA/ Downingtown) drove one just wide of the net in the first half.

Cole's goal was from 15 yards out and was assisted by Pat Healey and Sebastian Haensel. Towson outshot Delaware 5-2 in the first half.

The second half was fairly evenly matched between the two squads. The Tadjalli brothers tried to get Delaware back in this one as Sobhan Tadjalli (Hockessin, DE/ A.I. duPont) put one on net that the Tigers' Zak Thompson was able to corral. Sal Tadjalli (Hockessin, DE/ C.W. Baker) followed that up just a few minutes later with a shot of his own that sailed just wide.

Senior Kyle Haynes (St. Michael's, MD/ St. Michael's) made two saves in goal for the Blue Hens while Thompson made three saves for the Tigers on the night. The shots were even for the game at 7-7.

The Blue Hens take to the road for a game on Tuesday, October 12. Delaware will visit Lehigh at 7 p.m.
