DATE: October 2, 2005

HEMPSTEAD, NY -- The Hofstra University men’s soccer team used four goals in the first half to coast to a 5-0 victory over Delaware on Sunday afternoon.

Michael Todd scored the first two goals of the game for the Pride (6-3-1, 1-1 CAA) and Constantios Christoudias notched the first hat trick for the Pride in five years by scoring the final three goals of the game. The duo of Todd and Christoudias dominated the game, combining for 11 of the Pride’s 15 shots and all five goals.

Todd’s two goals came only 58 seconds apart early in the first half. His first goal 10:31 into the contest came off a breakaway when his initial shot hit the post, and he buried the rebound in the back of the net. Christoudias scored two goals three minutes apart late in the first half, and capped the scoring 17 minutes into the second half to record the hat trick.

Taylor Thames started the game in goal for Delaware (1-5-3, 0-1-1 CAA) and made four saves while playing the first half. Fellow freshman keeper Chris Jones made two saves and allowed one goal while playing the second half. Hofstra’s Matthias Gumbrecht and Tom Johansen combined to make four saves in the shutout.

The game extends Delaware’s scoreless streak to 318:45 of game action since Sobhan Tadjalli’s goal against Navy.

The Blue Hens will return to action on Friday when they host Old Dominion at Delaware Mini-Stadium at 7 p.m
