NEWARK, DE -- Kwame Adjeman-Pamboe scored a golden goal with just 1:34 left in the second overtime as George Mason scored a 1-0 win over Delaware on Friday night at the UD Mini-Stadium.

The Blue Hens (1-8-1, 1-2-0 CAA) dominated possession and chances throughout, out-shooting the Patriots (5-4-1, 2-1-0 CAA) 19-5 and amassing 14 shots on goal, their most in any match this year. GMU keeper Sean Kelley kept the hungry Hens off the board with 14 saves - eight in the first half - denying them on countless point-blank opportunities.

A Delaware defender deflected a Patriot corner kick with about 1:30 left, but Adjeman-Pamboe gathered the ball in the box and blasted it into the back of the net for the game-winner.

Delaware, coming off a 1-0 triumph at James Madison on Sunday, fell to 0-6-1 all-time against Mason, which beat the Hens by an identical 1-0 tally in last year’s meeting.

Senior striker Sobhan Tadjalli (right) fired four shots to anchor an ever-improving Blue Hen attack, while junior forward Tolu Olowolafe and freshman midfielder Darren Christie notched three shots each. Christie, hampered by an injury, saw only 30 minutes of action.

Junior goalie Taylor Thames stopped three shots for Delaware, which has surrendered a total of 10 shots in its last two matches after giving up 17 per outing in the previous eight.

Delaware coach Ian Hennessy saw plenty of positives in the loss.

"This one was a little difficult to swallow,” the Hens’ second-year head man said. “We continue to play excellent soccer and create wonderful opportunities but for some reason cannot find the back of the net. It is puzzling, really, but I have every confidence that we will sort ourselves through this. We have a strong team spirit and we will find a way."

Delaware returns to the field Sunday, when it hosts Towson at 1 p.m.
