BETHLEHEM, PA -- The University of Delaware men's soccer team surrendered an 89th-minute goal in a 1-0 loss to Lehigh on Thursday, falling to 0-3 on the season.

With the teams locked in a defensive battle, Mountain Hawk defender Vincent Devine broke through less than two minutes from the final whistle, beating Delaware goalie Taylor Thames (right) for the game-winner.

Thames saved four shots for the Hens, who have lost three straight to open a season for the first time since 2004.

Lehigh outshot Delaware 12-4, enjoying a 6-1 advantage in the second half. The Blue Hens, who are now 15-36-5 all-time against the Hawks, could manage only one shot on goal.

Tolu Olowolafe, Paul Danaher, Sobhan Tadjalli, and Darren Christie recorded shots for Delaware, which has scored just one goal this season. Tadjalli, the team’s leading scorer last year, played his first game after sitting out the Hens’ first two matches.

Delaware returns to action on Tuesday, when it visits Rutgers at 7 p.m.
