PHILADELPHIA -- Former University of Delaware men’s soccer standout forward Sobhan Tadjalli (at right) was selected in the third round and was the 34th pick overall by the Philadelphia KiXX in the Major Indoor Soccer League Draft held Tuesday via conference call.

Tadjalli, a native of Hockessin, DE who also starred at A.I. duPont High School, was one of five players drafted by the Kixx, who are currently 7-10 this season heading into their next game Feb. 2 at home vs. the Detroit Ignition. The team, now in its 12th season of competition, is led by player-coach Don D’Ambra and plays its game at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia.

A four-year letterwinner, Tadjalli is Delaware’s ninth all-time leading goal-scorer with 23, including nine during the 2006 season when he led the team in scoring and earned second team All-Colonial Athletic Association. He played in 77 career games with 59 starts and recorded 54 points on 23 goals and nine assists. He scored a UD freshman single season record 11 goals in 2004 when he was named the CAA Rookie of the Year and was a first team All-CAA selection. He is a biology major at Delaware with a minor in leadership.

The KiXX selected University of Pennsylvania midfielder Derek Hobson for its territorial selection and followed by taking Monmouth forward Damon Wilson in the first round, Quinnipiac midfielder Danilo Schiavon in the second round, Tadjalli in the third round, and Buffalo forward Dan Stevens in the fourth round.

Other Colonial Athletic Association players selected in the draft were Towson midfielder Patrick Healey by Baltimore in the territorial round, Virginia Commonwealth defender Garson Dos Santos by Monterrey in the second round, and Hofstra midfielder Chris Cox by Baltimore in the second round.
