NEWARK, Del. -- University of Delaware head coach Ian Hennessy and members of the Blue Hen men’s soccer squad will take part in a fundraiser to assist the organization Prevent Child Abuse Delaware (PCAD) next week.
For the second straight year, members of the team will help organize the Second Annual Prevent Child Abuse 5k Walk/Run to be held on Wednesday, June 25 at Rockford Park in Wilmington, Del.
The race is being co-sponsored by the UD Men’s Soccer Team and Gonser and Gonser, P.A. Andrew Gonser of Gonser and Gonser is a former member of the Blue Hen men’s soccer team. Last year’s event raised over $2,500 for PCAD.
The race will begin at 6:30 p.m. Registration can be done on site beginning at 5:30 p.m. the day of the race or by logging on to http://www.races2run.com. The fee is $16 for those who register prior to June 23 and $20 the day of the race.
“This is a great cause and our team is very proud to be able to help in such a worthwhile venture,” said Hennessy, who will begin his third season at the helm of the Blue Hens this fall.
Prevent Child Abuse Delaware is an organization that serves Delaware's children by tirelessly working to inspire others to engage in social change efforts that assure that all children have the opportunity to grow up free from abuse and neglect.
