NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware men's soccer team participated in their Second Annual Run for Prevent Child Abuse Delaware (PCAD) at Rockford Park June 25.
This year's event had double the participation from last year's run with 217 runners, and also raised nearly double the donations to the organization, raising over $4,500
to this worthwhile cause.
The idea was that of former Blue Hen player Andrew Gonser, who serves on the
Board of Directors for the organization that also has Senator Joe Biden and
Governor Ruth Ann Minner as chairpersons.
"The run is really a credit to Andrew and his family, who do a terrific job
raising awareness for the cause," said Delaware head coach Ian Hennessy. "Scott Selheimer at the University also deserves credit for assisting Channel 12 and the Wilmington News Journal in covering the event with some nice media pieces. And of course the players and coaching staff were once again on board for the second year and hope to continue our partnership with Andrew and the PCAD organization in the coming years."
