RICHMOND, Va. -- University of Delaware men’s soccer team’s junior midfielder Darren Christie (at right) has been named to the All-Colonial Athletic Association Third Team as voted by the CAA coaches, the conference announced Thursday night.

Christie led the Hens with 11 points on four goals and three assists. His four goals tied with freshman Andy Streilein for the team lead and his three assists were also tops among the Blue Hens.

A native of Swaziland, Christie first attended Alabama A&M before transferring to UD last year. He has had an immediate impact on the program in just two seasons, with his senior year still to come.

Last year he was named the UD Alumni Association Team Most Valuable Player, and this year he is the first Delaware men’s soccer player to earn All-CAA honors since Sobhan Tadjalli was named First Team All-CAA in 2004.

Christie got off to a hot start in 2008, scoring in the three out of the first four of the Hens’ games. He also had the assist on Courtney Hewitt’s game-winning goal against George Mason on Oct. 15, 2008.
