NEWARK, Del. -- University of Delaware men's soccer team's junior back Kyle Davis (at right) has been named to the ESPN The Magazine/College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) District 2 All-Academic first team.
Davis, a biochemistry major major and German minor from Hockessin, Del. with a 3.88 grade point average, was among 11 players selected for the District 2 University Division First Team based on their academic and athletic accomplishments. The voting was conducted by sports information directors at member schools.
To be eligible for the team, student athletes must carry a 3.2 or better grade point average on a 4.0 scale, have at least sophomore eligibility and be a starter or key reserve for their respective teams. District 2 includes all NCAA Division I schools in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia and Washington, D.C.
Davis, a graduate of Salesianum School, appeared in seven games and made six starts on the Blue Hen defensive line. He helped anchor a defense that allowed an average of 2.05 goals per game and registered a shutout against Virginia Commonwealth to earn a 1-0 victory on Senior Day. For his career, Davis has played in 31 games and started 19.
The Blue Hens finished 3-13-3 on the year and last place in the Colonial Athletic Association with a record of 2-8-1 in Head Coach Ian Hennessy’s third season.
