HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The University of Delaware men’s soccer team did not have an answer for Hofstra’s Brett Carrington and Justin Flood, as they were defeated 3-0 on the road at Hofstra Saturday night.

Head Coach Ian Hennessy was dissapointed with his team’s showing, but said he feels bad for his players.

“At times we do things well, yet not enough to keep balls out of the back of the net or score enough to compensate," Hennessy said. "We will continue to work on keeping the spirits high and look for a good result against George Mason Wednesday night.”

With the loss, Delaware fell to 1-8-3 (0-3-1) while Hofstra improved to 2-7-2 (1-2-1).

Carrington put Hofstra on the board early when he tucked a shot inside the left post after Rory McCrea played a long ball down the right side past the defense.

The Pride’s Johannes Grahn added another first half goal for Hofstra with about 10 minutes left. Flood created a turnover and found Grahn alone and he put it in from six yards.

Halfway into the second half, Carrington scored his second goal off Flood’s second assist of the game and upped the lead to 3-0.

The Blue Hens managed just six shots on the night. Paul Danaher (at right) and John Scheer each took two shots to lead Delaware who was shut out for the fifth time this year.
