The University of Delaware (4-2-1, 0-1) men's soccer team dropped its America East opener to Drexel (4-2-1,1-0) 2-1 in double overtime on Wednesday at Drexel Field. Drexel started off the scoring in the first half when senior Rob Gottschalk chipped in a second effort goal off a corner kick feed from Marcelo Gortari to put the Dragons up 1-0. Delaware struck back when Kyle Shilcock-Elliot (Wayne, Pa./Radnor) put in an indirect kick from point blank range off an assist from Todd Everett (Newark,DE/Newark) to tie the score at 1-1. The two teams battled into the second overtime until junior Adam Green lofted a floater to the far post over Delaware goalie Joaquin Hurtado's head from 25 yards out with 6:45 left to win 2-1 in sudden death. Delaware was outshot on the day 20-15, and had a five-game unbeaten streak snapped. The loss was the Blue Hens first road loss of the year.
