The University of Delaware (5-2-1, 1-1) men's soccer team, led by two goals from Dan Keane (Newark,DE/St. Marks), won for the fourth time in five games with a 3-0 victory over the America East defending regular season championHofstra Flying Dutchmen (4-3-2) Wednesday at the Delaware Mini-Stadium. The first half was scoreless between the two teams and more than half of the second half had gone by before Delaware struck first with a goal by Rob MacLeod(LivingstonNJ/Livingston) on a point blank shot that was set up by a deflectionoff a Hofstra defender.The Blue Hens then put away the game with 8:16 remaining in the second half when Keane scored off a Michael Buting (Perkasie,Pa./Pennridge) cross to give theBlue Hens a 2-0 lead.Keane tacked on his second goal late in the second half on Bunting's second assist of the game to make the final score 3-0.Delaware outshot Hofstra 14-12, 5-4 in the first half and 9-8 in the second half, as Delaware continued its best start since 1985. Goalie Joaquin Hurtado alsohad eight saves to move into third place all-time on the Blue Hen career saves list with 276. He passes Dave Ormsby on that list.
