Oct. 31, 1998 at 7:30 p.m. L 0-1 Jimmy Tanner scored the game's only goal with 18:43 left to plat to lift Old Dominion to a 1-0 non-league men's soccer victory over the University of Delaware Saturday evening. The Blue Hens, who could manage just three shots on the night, closed out their 1998 season with a record of 8-9-1, the second highest win total since 1988. Of the Hens' nine losses, seven were by one goal or less. Tanner took a feed from Coates and scored the game-winner, his ninth goal of the season. ODU goalkeeper Chuck Connelly posted his fifth shutout of the season. Delaware goalkeeper Joaquin Hurtado closed out his career as a four-year starter by posting five saves. His 343 career saves ranks third all-time at Delaware. |
